Being the Best RMS Care Partner You Can Be none By the LEMTRADA Team • June 8, 2017

Relapsing MS Care Partners

"Be the best you can be."

It’s a quote you’ve probably heard more than once. And you probably know all too well, being a Care Partner, is challenging.

To begin with, you need to be strong for your partner who’s living with relapsing MS—and being the best Care Partner starts with being your best self in any given situation. But you also need to consider your own needs in order to be able to manage any situation at hand.

So exactly how do you get to this better place?

Well, there are ways to preserve energy and mental health that as a Care Partner you may find especially helpful—like eating right, getting enough rest, exercising, and remembering to take time to do things that are important to you. Consider carving out some “me” time to feed your inner spirit and keep you going strong...

Sometimes caring for another person can really take a toll on you and in those times eating well or exercising might not be enough. You may need some support of your own—that’s completely understandable. Could you use a little help yourself? The National Multiple Sclerosis Society offers resources and support that may be helpful to you, your family, and your partner who’s living with relapsing MS.

We always hear that everyone’s MS is different. And every Care Partner has different challenges and strategies as well. There are so many different approaches that Care Partners employ to challenge MS—humor, perseverance, organization, and learning about the many sources of support they can turn to.

Do you have a tip for Care Partners? Feel free to share any advice you may have in the comment section below. It’s our hope that you’ll help empower them to be the best they can be!
