Staying Inspired with RMS By Rachel, Wife, Mother, Domestic Engineer • August 8, 2017
Relapsing MS. It’s not ideal, but I think staying inspired is super important and really helpful whether you’re living with a chronic condition or not. So I want to share with you a few things that keep me inspired and excited about living every day to the fullest.
Although one can't always choose what life throws at you, a person has the power to choose a positive attitude and to create happiness around them. Living with RMS wasn't something I would've chosen. But I've chosen not to let it define who I am. Rather, I am redefining what relapsing MS is to me! And let me tell you, perspective is powerful! So I try to see the best in every situation and find inspiration all around me.
One thing that really inspires me is going the extra mile for others and myself. I love to think that I can make a great story even greater or do something that's never been done before. I've never regretted putting my all into anything, including doing everything in my power not to let this disease win. I hope that sharing my journey with relapsing MS can inspire others to be their own advocate, give it all they got, and never give up. Giving your all is so much better than giving in!
Reading books also keeps me inspired—and it’s one of my favorite things to do. It's so much fun to read about places I've visited or want to visit. When I’m reading (and when I’m not), I like to think about where I’ve been and where I want to be—with myself and with my travels. I like to think that relapsing MS encourages me to explore the world around me on a deeper level.
I remember thinking I'd never make it to a sandy beach again. But as you can see in this picture, I did. In fact, not only did I make it to the beach, I made it to a beach featured in one of the books I read! As I think about my life and my endeavors, I can honestly say relapsing MS has helped me to see the beauty in everything and has pushed me to be my best self and to stay inspired. And I’m not the only one who feels this way! There are other people taking LEMTRADA who also share their LEMTRADA stories with others.
Obviously, inspiration can be found anywhere. I’m curious! Who or what inspires you?
