LEMTRADA is a prescription medicine used to treat adults with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS). Because of its risks, LEMTRADA is generally used in people who have tried 2 or more MS medicines that have not worked well enough. It is not known if LEMTRADA is safe and effective for use in children under 17 years of age.

An Infusion Milestone: Ready for Round 2 of LEMTRADA! none By the LEMTRADA Team • July 31, 2017

Tips to help prepare for your second round of LEMTRADA infusions

Another year has almost gone by—and that means it’s time to prepare for your second round of LEMTRADA infusions. The good news is that you’re halfway there, but remember no matter how you’re feeling at the end of year one, the second round is super important, especially because the efficacy and safety of LEMTRADA were studied with patients taking 2 courses of treatment.

At this point you have a good idea of what to expect during and after infusions, but a year is a long time, so we thought it would be helpful to walk you through planning for your second round of treatment so you can be mindful of certain things as you prepare.

One month before treatment…

Save the date
Make your infusion appointments and then call MS One to One® to tell your Nurse what dates you chose. That way, he or she can send you reminders and make sure you’re all set when your treatment day comes.

Cover your bases
Think about transportation, work coverage, or childcare needs ahead of time. We’re all busy in different ways, and a little planning in advance can go a long way.

Do your homework
If your healthcare provider has given you certain instructions, like taking pre-medications, tests, or vaccines, be sure to follow those instructions! Also, consider talking to your infusion center about their policies regarding bringing food, entertainment, visitors, or anything else you would like to have with you to help make you more comfortable.

One week before treatment…

Confirm your plans
Make sure the infusion center has the right treatment dates and remember to pick up medications prescribed to you so you can take them before treatment. While at the pharmacy, you can also pick up any over the counter medicines that you should also have on hand. Also remember how important good hydration can be so make sure to drink plenty of fluids to start hydrating early! Finally, make sure you have a ride to and from treatment, because infusion days can be tiring.

On the day before treatment…

Get ready for the big day
Ample rest and plenty of water are the best ways to start.

Take your own advice
Reflect on how you felt during your last infusion and think about what was most helpful for you to do or bring.

Start packing
Put everything you need for the day in your treatment travel bag. Water, snacks, headphones, games, blankets, layered clothing—whatever is important to you!

On your treatment days…

Put your best foot forward!
Get to the treatment center early, with your travel bag and some comfy clothes. Hydrate. You’ve got this!

And remember to continue to have your required monitoring each month until 4 years after your last treatment.

We hope you find these tips helpful!

If you have any questions about LEMTRADA or preparing for your second round of treatment, feel free to call your MS One to One Nurse at 1-855-676-6326.
